Volt Delta International opens new London based hosting site

Sunbury-on-Thames – September 22, 2009: Volt Delta International, a subsidiary of US based Volt Information Sciences, has opened a new London based hosting site to support its growing portfolio of hosted services. This new site complements and adds to Volt Delta’s global footprint of hosted service facilities allowing services to be offered to clients on a worldwide basis.

The new facilities are provided at Powergate, TelecityGroup’s latest London data centre in Acton which offers 5,000 square-metres of customer space and high power availability. The data centre has been designed to provide 4 kilowatts (kW) of customer power per rack as standard, more than twice the current industry average. Additionally 10% of power will be from renewable energy. Both power and air conditioning are highly resilient, and the site has the latest fire detection and suppression systems in place. Security is also a priority for both Volt Delta and TelecityGroup and there are secure 24x7 monitored access procedures backed up by card based and biometric access systems

Procedures in Powergate comply with ISO 9001:2000, which benchmarks quality processes for data centre operations and management. TelecityGroup is also taking the lead in driving energy efficiency in the data centre in Europe: it was the first data centre operator to sign up to the new EU Code of Conduct for data centres and is also a member of the Green Grid.

Importantly for Volt Delta’s services and client needs, Powergate offers telecommunications connectivity to the majority of major telecoms operators and the site benefits from the presence of LINX, the London Internet Exchange, offering global peering and further connectivity options.

Volt Delta will use the site to expand its range of OASIS on-call hosted services including a fully hosted contact centre and a wide range of hosted speech self-service options.

Volt Delta’s hosted services based at Powergate will be brought into live service during September 2009.

Noel Hughes, managing director Volt Delta International said, “We looked for a new data centre that offered us a very wide range of telecoms connectivity and also the latest in terms of best practice for us to offer our clients the highest availability and security for the services that we provide.  TelecityGroup’s Powergate facility provides a further building block in Volt Delta’s global provision of high-value hosted services.”
