Customer Support Engineer

Volt Delta International (VDI), a leading supplier of Telecommunications and contact centre services has an opening for an enthusiastic and dynamic Customer Support Engineer.

Your main responsibility as a VDI Customer Support Engineer is to provide a professional and efficient support service to Volt Delta’s customers.  Volt Delta operates at the forefront of contact centres with systems that include switching and ACD solutions, IVR and speech recognition for self service applications as well a comprehensive range of products to support customers in running and operating their call centres. Our solutions also include high speed search engines and online content based services.

In this role you’ll be the “face” of Volt Delta’s customer support organisation, working directly with our customers and liaising with your other colleagues from Volt Delta’s offices across Europe in order to support one of the broadest product sets available.

As a key part of our service delivery capability you’ll have the backing of the overall Volt Delta organisation with over 700 staff, and with offices in the US on both coasts and across Europe. Within Europe there are around 150 European staff dedicated to the directory assistance, yellow pages, information services and contact centre market with a wealth of skills, experience, products and development capability.

For this position you will be co-located on a customer site in Dublin and will liaise with Volt Delta specialists and the customer in order to resolve issues where necessary.

You will be advising the customer within the framework of Volt Delta’s application on specific (technical) issues.

Furthermore, you will be installing hardware & software for Servers, Workstations and Telecom and Data Switches and provide support both during office hours and also out of hours on a call out rota basis.

Prerequisites:

  • Ideally you should have a bachelor degree in a computer related discipline;
  • Sound knowledge of PCs, installation and configuration with good diagnostic skills;
  • In depth understanding of installation, configuration and troubleshooting on all MS-Windows Operating systems (server and workstation), preferably MS Certified;
  • In depth understanding of installation, configuration and troubleshooting on various Unix operating systems (HP, IBM, Linux, etc.), preferably at a certified level;
  • A firm knowledge of relational databases (e.g. MS SQL, version 6.5 upwards, Oracle, DB2);
  • Solid understanding of data communications, particularly LAN/WANs using TCP/IP with the ability to install and configure routers and hubs and to use LAN sniffers and protocol analysers;
  • Conversant in aspects of ISDN, SS7, VoIP and SIP and have experience in the use of protocol analysers, call generators and transmission test equipment;
  • To be able to converse with customer technical management and operational staff at the correct level is essential.
  • Identify business opportunities within his working area and bring them to the attention of the Sales team.
